Hello

I’m Huxley Kendell. I’m 24 and currently a Solutions Engineer at Redgate.

I joined Redgate in 2022 after completing a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc in Cloud Computing at the University of Lincoln. Since then, I’ve worked with some of the largest organizations in the world to improve how they manage and release database changes—focusing on automation, version control, and DevOps best practices.

As part of my role, I created Redgate’s Autopilot series—a hands-on experience designed to get users up and running quickly with Flyway. It’s grown into more than just a starter guide; it’s now a key part of how we support the community, alongside technical blog posts, free consultation sessions, and speaking at events across the industry.

Whether I’m presenting at conferences, solving gnarly deployment problems, or helping a team find their confidence with database releases, I’m always looking for practical, reliable ways to make database delivery easier.

My Story

I first joined the University of Lincoln in 2018 to study Computer Science, where I began exploring what would eventually become my passion—DevOps. After completing my MSc in Cloud Computing in 2022, I joined Redgate as a Solution Specialist, diving straight into the complex, ever-evolving world of database tooling and delivery.

Today, I work as a Solutions Engineer at Redgate, partnering with global teams to help them improve how they manage and release changes across their databases. My role spans automation, compliance, security, real-time monitoring, and deployments—but I’ve always had a particular interest in helping teams automate the difficult stuff. From scoping customer needs to designing workflows and writing pipeline code, I get hands-on with every stage of the database DevOps lifecycle.

One of the projects I’m proudest of is Redgate Autopilot, a self-paced onboarding experience that gives users a fast, safe way to get started with Redgate tools. It began with Flyway Autopilot, which I created to help users see value quickly and build confidence with schema versioning and database releases. Since then, I’ve led the expansion of Autopilot into other areas of the Redgate portfolio, including Test Data Manager (TDM) and RG Monitor, delivering additional quickstart guides across multiple RDBMS platforms—not just SQL Server.

These Autopilot experiences now support our community through events, training, and customer onboarding—bringing together curated walkthroughs, ready-to-run environments, and practical documentation that show how DevOps can work in the real world. Alongside that, I contribute regularly through blog posts, customer consultations, and by speaking at events and conferences across the industry.

What I love most about my role is the exposure to so many different teams, challenges, and ideas. No two organizations approach DevOps in the same way, and I get to see, support, and sometimes help shape what modern database delivery looks like at scale. Whether it's a first proof-of-concept or an enterprise rollout across multiple regions and teams, I’m always learning, building, and happy to share what I’ve seen work in the wild.

If you're looking to simplify your release process, build better database workflows, or just chat about what’s possible with DevOps tooling—I’m always up for a conversation, so please reach out in anyway!
